Summary

I hold a Master in Sustainable Development and Corporate Responsibility from EOI Business School in Spain and Degree in Environmental Science and technology from the University of Malawi, The Polytechnic. I have over 16 years’ experience Climate Resilient WASH programming, emergency WASH programming in both development and emergency set up. As the WASH section emergency focal point, I successfully coordinated the cyclone Fred and cholera emergency which affected Malawi the past year. I am also a Case Area Targetted Intervention (CATI champion and trainer. I am also the MCO country office certified PSEA trainer.

WASH Officer

  • Currently leading the water supply team in planning, LTAs and contract management, monitoring of all the water supply contracts
  • In coordination with the district councils assess the water supply gaps in the district and plan for equitable distribution of the interventions according to the resources available
  • Continuously build new and sustain strategic partnerships with different sector players
  • Including the line ministries, districts councils, contractors, NGO partners and donors as well as other UN agencies
  • With section colleagues formulate the WASH outcome and output results, related indicators, baselines, targets and means of verification which are translated to proposals and Participate in the water supply technical groups, joint sector reviews and other forums where there are strategic discussions and policy formulation Through monitoring, supervision, and coordination, identify the bottlenecks and devise strategies to address them, but also identify the success stories for sharing and learning
  • Manage and coordinate implementation and reporting all grants for climate resilient water supply interventions which includes USAID BHA, CERF, EU, DFID and Natcoms
  • Actively monitor UNICEF-supported activities through field visits, programmatic visits, to identify issues which requires technical guidance, reviews and but also success stories
  • Promote accountability and enforce the establishment of a complaint mechanism/system to improve the WASH Sustainability
  • For the past three years, I led for the WASH emergency team on preparedness, response, and recovery of the Cyclone Anna and Cyclone Fred
  • I also supported the district emergency response partners through partnership agreements, coordination of the implementation as well as provision of technical support and guidance
  • Lead in the preparation of procurement plans, prepositioning including requisition, and distribution of supplies as well as end user monitoring
  • Prepare donor reports in accordance to donor requirements, workplans and budget.

  • Conducting needs assessment for the developing proposals, strategies, annual implementation plans and budgets
  • Formulation of the WASH outcome and output results, related indicators, baselines, targets and means of verification
  • Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners and Councils in line with the sector’s strategies, processes, and best practices in WASH, to support programme implementation throughout all stages of programming processes for the achievement of the WASH output results
  • Build and sustain close working partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate programme implementation and build capacity of stakeholders to achieve WASH output results
