Summary

Motivated by my values of justice and a more equal and fairer world, I have worked for International NGOs for more than 20 years in the international relief and development sector. I have extensive experience in advocacy for promotion of human rights of different vulnerable groups (minority and indigenous peoples, children and women).

Over this time, I have held a number of roles including Country Director roles in South Sudan and Malawi, and Africa Regional Manager role - providing leadership and strategic direction to a continental programme in 8 Eastern, Southern and Western African Countries.

I have a masters in degree in development studies from Erasmus University, The Netherlands and a bachelor of arts degree in social sciences from Makerere University in Uganda.

  • Managed, developed and empowered staff working for Christian Aid and in-country to take responsibility within a devolved and decentralized region or continent, working within the corporate framework, agreed annual plans, budgets and defined delegations of authority.
  • Be the senior representative of Christian Aid in-country and develop and promote the country and programme profile within the region or continent and across the wider organization.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and representation of the region or continent, to proactively engage in networks and learning groups and to review and evaluate other programmes and grants across the region or continent as required.
  • Liaise with functional leaders/stakeholders/Government for the particular country such as development policy, advocacy, and fundraising.

Africa Regional Manager

ü Develop and oversee MRG’s Africa regional programmes.

ü Ensure co-ordination within the team and with other departments at MRG- Africa office and resolve scheduling, budget, quality, planning and evaluation of problems as they occur.

ü Manage regional office project budgets and report on variances against budgets and proposals.

ü Together with the team lead on designing new work, designing consultation processes, needs analysis and researching situations on the ground, drafting proposals and budgets for MRG’s Council and for donors.

ü Manage and support Africa Office staff, ensure delivery of projects on schedule, ensure quality control of proposals, processes, events, publications and evaluation.

ü Support staff in evaluating work and producing reports for internal reviews, donors and for MRG’s Council.

  • ü As part of MRG’s management team, contribute to the running of the organization as a whole, including contributing to strategic reviews, budgets, financial management and reporting, evaluations, developing and implementing policies.
  • ü Feed into the development of MRG’s policy on minority and indigenous issues, including by ensuring partners’ experiences and concerns are reflected in MRG’s policy making.

  • ü Ensure that all programmes activities and scripts include and are sensitive to gender, multiple discrimination and equality issues and that MRG’s policies in this regard are implemented throughout all work in the region.
