Project Overview: DFSA was a Resilience Food Assistance Activity (RFSA) funded by USAID through the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)

The goal was to achieve sustainable, equitable and resilient food and nutrition security for ultra-poor and chronically vulnerable households

• Successfully planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated program activities according to USAID and Save the children objectives and standards
• Mainstreamed gender into program activities
• Mentored junior staff members, helping them develop their skills and advance in their careers.
• Maintained strict adherence to industry regulations, minimizing risk exposure for the organization.
• Enhanced communication between team members by organizing regular meetings and fostering open dialogue.
• Established effective relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally for increased collaboration opportunities.
• Supervised frontline team and oversaw gender, social behavior change, governance, climate smart agriculture, marketing, livelihood, water sanitation and hygiene (wash), maternal child health nutrition (mchn), disaster risk management and natural resources management
• Effectively prepared detailed implementation plans, budgets and scope of works for thematic areas mentioned above
• Provided capacity building trainings for staff and stakeholders
• Ensured no single activity across the sectors was a stand-alone (strived for a 100 % activity complementarity)

Company Overview: UBALE program was a livelihoods project that aimed at reducing chronic malnutrition and food insecurity and build resilience among rural communities

• Designed and implemented GBV prevention and response programs
• Developed and facilitated training on GBV, gender equality, and human rights
• Collaborated with stakeholders to establish GBV referral pathways and support services
• Ensured that all interventions of the project programming are sensitive to gender equity and equality where all gender groups can participate freely and build program synergies
• Facilitated community score card trainings and successfully supervised actual roll out on the ground
• Successfully planned and delivered capacity strengthening trainings such as Governance, PPM&E, Resource Mobilization, Gender Equity and Women Empowerment, Gender Equity and diversity to decentralized government structures
• Supported the development and promotion of an approach for empowering women and men in combating gender based violence and HIV/AIDs pandemic and gender discrimination
• Supported the identification and development of gender related strategies of addressing nutrition, health, economic, and governance needs and concerns of both men and women for purposes of reducing vulnerability
• Coordinated and collaborated with relevant line Ministries such as Agriculture (Nutrition and Gender Desk Officer), Labor, Gender, Women and Child Welfare on gender related interventions at community level
• Promoted community dialogue for women, men, boys and girls and other Marginalized groups on gender issues, rights and HIV and AIDS
• Promoted implementation of gender appropriate technologies such as labor and time saving technologies as a means of empowering women to free up time and have balanced participation in their communities ensuring equity in participation of all gender groups
• Supported actions that analyzed and unearthed gender gaps existing in the communities
• Ensure that women have control over, access to productive resources, and have a voice starting from the community they live in
• Marginalized gender groups were economically empowered and could exercise their freedom and make informed choices for themselves and their families including SRH choices for women
• Conducted gender sensitization campaigns based on issues identified
• Participated in regular Annual and periodic review meetings including quarterly review meetings with stakeholders to review project implementation progress

Reporting to the MCHN/WASH coordinator, I was entrusted to Plan and implement activities meant to improve hygienic conditions in the targeted rural communities

• Facilitated formation/re-establishment of Water User Committees (WUCs)
• Trained Water Point/Sanitation Committees in different WASH initiatives such as CBM
• Participated and closely collaborated with FFA coordinator to supervise the construction of WASH structures e.g Construction of pit latrines and hand washing facilities in health facilities
• Trained relevant health facility staff in management and rehabilitation of constructed WASH structures (e.g Pit latrines and hand washing facilities)
• Promoted hygiene and sanitation in households e.g Construction and use of tippy taps
• Facilitated creation of protected play spaces for children in CBCCs and households
• Educated communities with no access to safe drinking water sources on appropriate water treatment technologies
• Assessed communities on WASH performance
• Linked with other government and non-governmental agencies working on WASH to ensure relevant WASH interventions are implemented in the communities they serve e.g To have CLTS done in communities with poor sanitation
• Identified case studies, followed up and shared the success
