Assistant to the Program Director

New York University

  • Support: Provided overall assistance to Daniel Spector, Professor of Acting and Studio Director of NYU Tisch's The Classical Studio. Acted as primary liaison between student body of sixteen and faculty of seven.
  • Teaching: Co-taught acting and voice classes, which consisted of Shakespeare acting study, introduction to Meisner, scansion and embodiment of iambic pentameter, contemporary monologue coaching, and breath and embodied voice work.

  • Music Direction: Accompanied students in voice classes and vocal directed performances, especially Lab explorations which took place over 56 hours. Students were introduced to a short (7-20 minute) section of a play or musical, learned vocal parts, then staged, costumed, and directed the piece for performance across roughly 55 hours total (~20 hours of rehearsal.) Served as music director and mentor on multiple labs over 3.5 years of teaching work on campus.
  • Inclusion: Promoted cultural awareness and inclusivity within the classroom by integrating diverse perspectives into course content and discussions. Especially working with college-aged students from all over the country and, often, globe, an attention-to-detail of individual needs and differences was crucial to success on campus.
  • Curriculum: Collaborated with colleagues to create interdisciplinary lessons and Lab experiences, enriching students' rigorous educational experiences. Assisted in material selection for all classes and labs to meet each unique class' strengths, areas for improvement, and individual interests.
